 Fairfield - Local residents are invited to experience the Tastes of Solano from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Joseph Nelson Center in Suisun City.

Area restaurants and caterers will provide gourmet appetizers along with wine tasting from Napa and Suisun Valley vintners. A few openings remain for wineries or restaurants to participate.

Live entertainment will feature concert pianist, Madi Barrena along with local group Pellegrino, who will perform an Andrews Sisters-inspired show.

'The highlight of the evening will be the auction,' says event planner Margaret Manzo. 'We have many one-of-a-kind items that cant be bought elsewhere. Whether its ghost hunting with author Jeff Dwyer or flying in an open cockpit World War II airplane with Duncan Miller, there is something for everyone. Weve even got a stocked wine cabinet filled with 60 bottles of fine wine.'

One item for auction is the giclee on canvas poster 'Truth, Justice, and the American Way' by Glen Orbik (2001). Only 100 of these posters were printed in giclee on canvas; they sold out within two days of their release. Five numbered artists proofs were printed; this is number four. The artist has signed it and donated it to Heather House; it is the only one of Orbiks proofs that he has released.

Heather House provides emergency housing for women and families in Solano County and surrounding areas. Last year, 75 percent of the clients that completed the program moved into permanent housing and employment.
